Juan Williams

The controversy pits candidness against political correctness:

A leftist equipped in a panoply of diversity do-gooding (black, Hispanic, immigrants, wrote a book about civil rights, etc) gets the guillotine for expressing thoughts--after prefacing them with a recitation tolerance rosary--that an overwhelming majority of Americans share:
When I get on a plane, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and they're identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.
He's termed by the putatively unbiaed NPR. Of the over $2 billion spent on public broadcasting each year, more than $800 million comes from taxpayers, about half from the federal level and half from state and local governments. This strikes me as the most convincing among a host of cogent reasons to strip the CPB of its public funding going forward. That is, kill the government feeder of PBS and NPR and let them fare as they will.

NPR is currently engaged in another round of mendicant begging, so if you regularly make a contribution, consider diverting those funds to a source that deserves them a zillion times more.
